What is an engaged visitor?

A visitor who thoroughly views your content. An engaged visitor is defined by a Stumble that has served a user with enough time to consume the content on your URL. We measure engagement by many factors, including time spent, page interaction and activity, share rate, and many more.

Do I need to add funds to my account before my campaigns run?

Yes. Paid Discovery is a prepay platform, therefore you must add funds to your account before your campaigns can run. We will deduct funds from your account balance as your Paid Stumbles are served.

Why are my campaigns listed as pending?

Once you have submitted your campaigns, our ad and content operations team will review your campaign for approval. The review process usually takes one (1) business day or less. If you submit your campaign during normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM PST), chances are our team will review it within a few hours. Note: Please keep in mind we have very limited coverage during weekends and observed U.S. holidays. If you need your campaigns active by Monday morning, it’s best to create your campaigns by mid-day Friday.

What type of content does well in Paid Discovery?

StumbleUpon’s millions of members are looking to discover articles, photos, videos and experiences that make them laugh, smile, or say ‘hmmm.’ Entertaining, informative and visually striking content performs best with the StumbleUpon community. While users Stumble, paid content is delivered to them seamlessly. Ideally, every StumbleUpon user should appreciate advertisements as one of their Stumbles. As delight scores go up (thumbs up vs thumbs down ratings), the chance that your content will go viral organically within StumbleUpon also increases. In order to offer the best discovery experience for our users, StumbleUpon provides Content Guidelines to help you communicate more effectively with your desired audience.

What are Organic Stumbles?

Organic Stumbles are received through content virality. You can receive free traffic through the following ways:

  • As users discover your page, they can share it with friends and other StumbleUpon members.
  • Your page is shown to members organically.
  • Members can find your page on other StumbleUpon members’ profile or blog.

Why was my account locked?

Your account was likely locked due to excessive attempts at payment in a short time frame. If your credit card payment attempt is receiving an error message, head to our Payments & Refunds help center page. Please contact us if you feel your account was locked in error and we will review your case.

Can I get the thumbnail shown for my URL updated?

Thumbnail image changes are manually processed by the ad and content operations team. Please contact us with your URLs to request a campaign thumbnail update. This process typically takes 48 hours, and because it is automated you cannot select a specific image.

How do I change my login e-mail and/or password?

If you’d like to change your advertiser login or password, please contact us. Please note that passwords can contain letters and numbers only.

Do you allow third-party redirection?

You can request the ability to use third-party redirects (such as bit.ly) by contacting us with your account details. We assess these requests on quality and select on a case by case basis.

Can I set up invoice billing?

We do offer invoice billing , however you must have a minimum monthly spend of $10,000 USD over the past 3 months. Please note that eligibility is also assessed on quality and is selected on a case by case basis.

Why was my page rejected?

If your campaign was declined, it doesn’t mean you can’t advertise on Paid Discovery. Review our Content Guidelines and submit another campaign with content that abides by our policies.

Often times, the solution might be as simple as choosing a different page on your site. For example, if your campaign contains little more than a sign-up form, try another page that explains the benefits of your product/service. Visually appealing content also works well.
