How do I download the StumbleUpon app for Windows 8?
The StumbleUpon Windows 8 Metro-style App, is currently only available on the Windows 8 Release Preview. This is a pre-release version of the Windows 8 operating system. Downloads and more information on Windows 8 is available on the Microsoft website.

To download the StumbleUpon App for Windows 8 Release Preview, follow one of the two methods below:

-On your Windows 8 device, lauch the Windows 8 Store and search for the “StumbleUpon” application. Select “Download” from the StumbleUpon App Store page.

- On your Windows 8 device, open your Internet browser and visit http://apps.microsoft.com/webpdp/app/stumbleupon/eb0a5bc4-90ff-44f5-85a9-b9d285153905. Select “Download” from the StumbleUpon App Store page.

 

Can I install the StumbleUpon Metro-style App on the Windows 8 Consumer Preview?
No. The StumbleUpon Metro-style App is only available for the Windows 8 Releaese Candiate and is not supported on the Windows 8 Consumer Preview released back in February 2012.

 

 

Is the StumbleUpon Metro-Style App available for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, or Mac?
No. Metro-style apps are only supported by the Windows 8 operating system.

 

 

How do I create an account on the Windows 8 app?

You can create an account using our own sign-up form in our Windows 8 App. The form will ask you to specify what email, username and password you want for your new account.

1. Launch the StumbleUpon application from the Start screen.
2. Select “Join for Free”.
3. Fill out the registration form.
4. Scroll / pan to the bottom of the page and select “Get Started”.

 

 

Can I create an account using Facebook instead?
To sign up via Facebook

1. Launch the StumbleUpon application from the Start screen.
2. Select “Join for Free”.
3. Fill out your Facebook credentials.
4. Scroll / pan to the bottom of the page and select “Get Started”.

 

 

How do I sign in? How do I log in using my Facebook account?
To sign in enter your StumbleUpon username and password. If you do not know your username and password, go to: http://www.stumbleupon.com/reset_password/ and enter the email address you used to create your StumbleUpon account. We will then send you an email containing a link that will allow you to reset your password.

 

How do I change my profile picture?
This feature is not yet available on the app. This option is availble on out website by going to https://www.stumbleupon.com/settings/picture.

 

 

How do I Stumble with the app?
Each time you tap the “Stumble” button, you will be brought to a new web page related to your Interests – whether it’s a specific Interest such as Food/Cooking, amazing photos, or all of your Interests. Tap the “Like” button on web pages you like and the “Dislike” button on ones you don’t so we can learn what type of content you prefer and show you better recommendations.

There are several ways to start stumbling:

1. From any screen in the StumbleUpon Metro-style App, swipe or right click on the mouse to bring up the StumbleBar and select the “Stumble” button to browse web pages from all your Interests.
2. If you’re in the Home, Likes, or snapped view, selecting any page thumbnail will also start Stumbling.

How do I stumble a specific Interest?
Once you have stumbled All Interests, you can choose to Stumble specific Interests to get more of what you want to see:

1. From any screen in the StumbleUpon Metro-style App, swipe or right click on the mouse and bring up the StumbleBar. Select “Stumble Mode” and select the Interest you would like to start Stumbling.

2. Using the Windows Search feature in the Charms menu, you can also explore other Interests by typing in a keyword. From any application swipe the right edge of your monitor and to bring up the charms menu and select search. Type in a keyword you would like to begin Stumbling and select the StumbleUpon application.

How do I remove or follow more Interests?
This feature is not yet available on the app. You can always follow more Interests in the Discover feature on our website: http://www.stumbleupon.com/discover/interests.
 

 

How do I share a web page?
You can share any page you find by using the Windows Share feature in the Charms. Like the Direct Share feature on our website, you will only be able to share to another Stumbler if you are both following each other.

1. Sharing to your Connections from another Metro-style App:
With Windows 8, you can share any web page to your StumbleUpon connections, even if it’s in another App. For example, if you are using the Metro-style Internet Explorer and find a web page you like, you can swipe the right side of the screen to bring up the Charms. Select “Share”. If the app you are using supports sharing web pages, you will see “StumbleUpon” in the Share list. Select StumbleUpon and the Connections you would like to share the web page with.

2. Sharing a page you discovered in the StumbleUpon Metro-style App to another App:
The StumbleUpon Metro-style App can share web pages to any other app that supports the Windows Share feature. When you find a page in our App that you like, swipe the right side of the screen to bring up the Charms. Select “Share”. If the app you would like to share to supports web pages, it will show up in the Share list. Select the application that you wish to share to.

How do I add Connections, follow other Stumblers, and find my friends?
This feature is not yet available on the app. You can find other Stumblers to follow by going to http://www.stumbleupon.com/discover. You can follow and invite invite people you know from Facebook, Twitter, and Google by going to http://www.stumbleupon.com/invite.

 

 

How do I add a web page to StumbleUpon through the app

How do I Like a web page?
All actions that you can do on a page can be found by right clicking on the mouse or swiping from the bottom edge of your device when using the StumbleUpon Metro-style App. If you are Stumbling and see a page that you Like, simply bring up the StumbleBar and select “Like”.
 

 

How do I write a comment for a web page I Liked?
This feature is not yet available on the app. It is only available if from our webiste. Using the Windows Share feature, however, you can share the page to another Stumbler or to another StumbleUpon application.
 

 

How do I access my Likes?
You can access your Likes in two ways:

1) From the Home screen
Your Likes are always available on the Home screen. Simply pan or scroll horizontally to the right and you’ll see your most recently Likes in the “Your Likes” group. Selecting “All History” will show you all of the Likes you’ve ever made on StumbleUpon.

2) From anywhere in the app
You can navigate to all of your Likes from anywhere in the app by right clicking or swiping the bottom edge of your screen, bringing up the StumbleBar. Next to the StumbleUpon logo at the top of the app, tap the navigation menu and select “Your Likes” from the menu.

How do I eliminate videos from the web pages I see?

You currently cannot turn off video Stumbles through the app. Please sign in to StumbleUpon on your computer or through your device browser and navigate to your Settings pages. From there, go to your Stumbles tab and uncheck the box to include Stumbles with video.


 

 

Can I message another Stumbler?

No, you can not send messages to another Stumbler through the app. The easiest way to communicate with another Stumbler is by typing a note when you’re sharing a web page with that person. You can have entire back-and-forth conversations via the Share feature. Please note, you and the other Stumbler must both be following each other first.

 

 

How do I block a web page? Can I report bad, spam and duplicate content?

While we do our best to ensure that we’re showing you only the best web pages, once in a while you may Stumble a page with poor quality content. You can help keep our Stumble quality high by reporting these web pages to us.

Currently, disliking a page is the best way to report an issue. Tap on the “Dislike” button in the StumbleBar on any web page you want to report.

 

 

How safe is my information? How private is it?

Your information is never revealed or sold to third parties. We respect your concerns and value the privacy of all our members.

 

How do I sign out of the Windows 8 app?

To sign out of the Windows 8 app, from any page swipe to the left from the far right edge of the screen and then select Settings. From the Settings menu select Sign Out.
