Can I include HTML or images in my messages?
No, your messages are limited to plain text.

Can I send one message to all of my friends?
No, you can only send a message to one member at a time. This limit is in place to reduce spam on StumbleUpon.

How can I see a message I sent to someone?
Click the Shares tab on your Profile page and then click Messages to see your recent messages. To view messages you have sent and your conversation history with another member, click the message icon below one of your messages to display a history of messages between you.

How do I send messages to other members?

Click the Shares tab on your Profile page and then click Messages to see your recent messages. Click Send A Message and you will see an alphabetical list of the Stumblers you can message. Click any Stumbler to write them a message. You can reply to a current message by clicking the message icon beneath an existing message in your Inbox.

How many messages can I send or receive?
To prevent spam, members may send a maximum of 300 private messages for 24 hours. After this limit is reached, you will be not be able to send messages for 24 hours, but you will be able continue to receive messages during this time. There is no limit on the number of messages that you can receive.

I get an “Invalid Access” error when trying to send a message.
If you see an “Invalid Access” error when trying to send a message, most likely your browser is not configured to allow cookies for http://www.stumbleupon.com. If so, adjust your browser preferences to accept these cookies.

Check also that any security software that you have installed is not limiting access to www.stumbleupon.com

Who can send messages to me?
Any member may send a message to another member, as long as they are not blocked and are following each other. Please note members with X-rated profiles are not able to communicate via private message with G-rated members.

Can I block messages from being sent to me?

Why can’t I message another member?
To send a message, your account must meet these guidelines:

- Your account is older than 72 hours.
- You must have Stumbled a significant number of times.
- You have uploaded a profile photo.
- You must be following the Stumbler and that Stumbler must be following you.

If these conditions are met and you still can’t send a message to another user, here are a few reasons why this could be happening:

- The other member has chosen not to receive any messages.
- The other member has blocked you.
- The other member has a different account rating than yours (e.g. You are X-rated and the other user is G-rated.)
- If your account has been used to send spam messages to other members (which is breach of our Terms), we may remove your messaging privileges.
